Consistency is the key to so many things…..

By Gina - View All Blog

Fall is a great time to get back to an exercise routine.  This is the perfect time to renew your commitment to getting in better shape. The lazy days of summer have come to a close and, for many of us, we have a little more time to focus on ourselves now that the kids are back in school.  So, instead of just repeating the mantra – “I really need to start exercising and feel better about myself,” – let’s make it happen!  Centered Pilates is here to help!

When it comes to getting a really great Pilates workout, consistency is key. Joseph Pilates promised that you’ll feel different in 10 sessions, you’ll look different in 20 sessions, and you’ll have a whole new body in 30 sessions – but you can’t drag this out over a period of months and expect to get good results. Mastering a skill takes commitment and establishing a firm fitness routine will help you reach your goals one drop of sweat at a time.

Unlike large fitness classes, Pilates helps you develop a foundation specific to your needs. That you build on through regular practice. Through concentration and a focus on unfamiliar muscles, Pilates helps develop joint stability, long, lean muscles, and better physical control.   A gradual increase in rhythm and difficulty allows your body to adapt to new challenges and improves efficiency in movement. Regular workouts also help improve your mood by releasing endorphins that reduce stress and increase overall energy.

It is crucial to master the basic movements before moving on to the more advanced exercises. Once you have a good understanding of the basics, a Pilates workout is done at a brisk pace with fluid, controlled full body movement. Take advantage of one-on-one time with an instructor in our private sessions to learn the technique, getting results that keeps you motivated.

The best way to learn the Pilates exercises is to stick with it. Sign up for classes that work with your schedule and develop a routine that works for you.. No excuses! Your mind and body will thank you.

“Patience and persistence are vital qualities in the ultimate successful accomplishment of any worthwhile endeavor.” – Joseph Pilates
